Preparing Thai Food

Actually preparing and cooking Thai cuisine can be a lot of fun.  The foods are normally cut into chunks or slices so that there is little need for a knife at the table.  And once you are familiar with the fare, it can actually become a labor of love.

Many of the dishes are known not only for the wonderful taste, they are also known for the beauty of the dish.  The ingredients are cut into uniform pieces and very often ingredients are wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves.  Nuts are used in full size pieces or halves.

Soup stocks, curries and dips are often created from the same basic base ingredients. Simple addition of only a few items can change the entire flavor of the dish.  For instance most stocks begin with boiling water, meat or seafood, salt, garlic, shallots, peppercorns and coriander roots.  Simple addition of lime juice, lemon grass, or crushed fresh chilies can result in a totally different dish.
